Fart to Art
What I'm learning in Art School

Welp, this is the finished 5 stage morph project. I was really pleased with this when I finished. I had to admit during critique that I sort of cheated on this assignment becuase there isn't technically a "morph" happening, but more of a narrative. I took the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty and gave it a "tragic" ending. But my cheats didn't seem to bother my teacher or anyone else in the class. I recieved a number of compliments and that made me happy :) Not really in a sense of self accomplishment but more in a sense of that I had put a TON of time into this project so anything less of a response would have set a feeling of discouragment in me to not try so hard. BUTT we're all clear for now!

Humpty Dumpty sat on a brick of clay
This little fella just melts my heart. I'm not sure I had really intended on making him so darn cute! This assignment was to make 5 different figures that gradually morph into something else. I've spent so much time on this assignment, and I can't say that I followed the guidelines exactly but I suppose I was using my artistic freedom card...Now that I have all sculpted and baked, its time for paint!

As Fluffy as a Hammer
Boy do I love a pink hammer. Todays assignment was to pick an object and change its usual color to make the objects weight appear opposite of what it really is. I first carved the hammer out of styrofoam. It was much easier than I thought. I think more projects with styro will be in my future! I then painted the part of the hammer that would usually be a gray metal, white. Then I made the rest of the hammer a light "fluffy" "cotton candy" pink. I also wanted to keep the overall feeling of feminity because mass is usually not associated with ladiesss. Maybe I can add a chain to the top and use it as a necklace and tell everyone that its from a couture line...eh? No? Ok. Maybe not. This whole project took me maybe 2 hours, it was such a relief. I am working on a sculpy project now that will take me most of the weekend. Sad Face. :(
Light on your Feet
This little booger took me 2 tries, thank god I have 2 feet. The assignment was to change the texture of an object but keep a conceptual idea in mind. So I covered an old tennis shoe in feathers to go with the saying "Light on your feet" Absolutely genius I know, so genius that my 10 year old neice could have probably came up with the same exact idea.
We will see how the critique goes on Monday! No matter what though, I will probably pitch these bad boys to Nike, or Reebok, or Sketchers. Sketchers makes some pretty terrible shoes, my acceptance will be a shoe-in! Ha! Get it? Ok, goodnight...
